Muting the Public

Mute ButtonThe Coeur d’Alene City Council is under a lot of scrutiny. They have failed to abide by open meeting laws according to some, have failed to interpret the Idaho records laws correctly, fails to provide adequate information to the public as well as selective in who receives first hand information to be reported, calls public citizens “liars,” and has also compromised our elections, while they stifle their smirks and laughter in the public process of our televised publc city council meetings in that same vein of behavior.

So, when I read about how the Carson, California Mayor, Jim Dear, hits the mute button on speakers before the three-minute time limit is up during city council meetings,  I thought,”Yep” that could be next, here. Censorship at the helm of the city council meetings – violates open meeting laws, evidently. But according to the article, it was just the accusation of a political “gladfly.” Sure, we believe that - don’t we?
