Reworking the CDA City Minutes

Respect

February 2, 2010 the Coeur d’Alene City Hall met. There was public input and at least two private citizens of the public came forward to voice their concerns unrelated to requests that required any approval by the city. Their concerns, obviously, were not mainstream opinions.  However, what disturbed me were the apparent smirks and grins that were stifled by the city council after their testimony. What also irritates me is the way the city minutes (draft) recorded some of the input in an undermining and demeaning light, so I have decided to rework it. These three concerned me the most.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

GLOBAL CONSPIRACY: Stonecalf Warriorwoman, 1421 N. 9th B-4, Cd’A, read a letter she received from Senator Crapo regarding her beliefs in the Global Conspiracy theory that deals with extraterrestrials taking over the world.

INTRODUCTION OF BOOK AND CONCERNS:

Stonecalf Warriorwoman, 1421 N. 9th B-4, Cd’A, read a letter she received from Senator Crapo regarding her concerns that stem from the works of an author by the name of Daniel Icke who wrote the book, Global Conspiracy. While Senator Crapo was not familiar with his works, Stonecalf Warriorwoman let the public know that the book is an extraordinary and unique compilation of 20 yrs of research in more than 40 countries, as the author connects the dots between apparently unconnected people, events and subjects to show how everything fits together — and to what end.  Stonecalf Warrior woman expressed her concerns in how she interprets this book and how it applies to city government and her surroundings.

PUBLIC COMMENTS:

HAROLD’S COMMENTS: Harold Hocker, 1413 E. Spokane Ave., believes that the issue of a global conspiracy is a very serious issue as a group in Russia wants to take over the entire world and it all started with China when the United States started trading with China. He also reminded the Council that each Council member should stop being followers and that they were elected to help the people and not just a few special people. He commented that he believes that this City is not a good government, it is Hitlerism.

CITY REPRIMAND:

Harold Hocker, 1413 E. Spokane Ave., came foward and expressed his concerns regarding Stonecalf Warriorwoman’s comments and shared some of his knowledge regarding these concerns. Harold is a long time resident of the area and commented on historical events and reminded the council to participate in good city government, while he informed the city council that some of the actions of the current city council were behaviors exhibited by former governments such as the fascistic and nationalistic theories and practices of Adolf Hitler and the Nazis or “Hitlerism.”

I might also add that this is the draft of the issue that Adams brought up.

Steve Adams, 5292 N. Parkwood Circle, commented that Mr. Troy Tymesen told him that the tennis courts were being removed from McEuen field to construct a two-story parking garage. He had passed this information along to Mary Souza and because of the Mayor’s response to the Spokesman Review that this was not true, he expects the Mayor to apologize to Mary Souza. The Mayor explained that her response was that a parking garage is not planned to be constructed on top of McEuen Field which was how the question was asked and she stands by her response that there are no plans to construct a parking garage on “top of McEuen Field”. She further explained that enhancements are being looked at for McEuen Field and the City’s plan is to have community input. She noted that every time the topic of McEuen Field is mentioned there are always rumors, speculation and exaggeration spread around and reminded Mr. Adams that the Council had adopted 7 values for McEuen Field and those values are still in place. Mr. Adams said that he would like to go on record that he supports enhancements to McEuen Field and improved parking capacity for those using the field but still expects the Mayor to apologize to Mary Souza.

This one is not good either in the manner the city clerk writes “expects” – it is openly biased. Adams did not “expect” anything, however, he requested an apology on behalf of Mary.
