It floors me that some folks would make such a big deal of this just because a handful wanted to stay away from a political slant regarding a fair theme.

Fiesta? How political does it get? We all know that immigration laws are a hot topic now and especially in Arizona. Now, the D’s want to push their agenda by claiming the R’s are bigots and racists because they want to stay within a non political theme. We all know fairs are political, it is where politicians show their faces and where they collect votes. It is their time to shine and give us all of the meirda de toro they can shovel out! For the D’s to claim they are not pushing their own political views via their ‘it only means party’ claim by calling the fair Fiesta is most likely a blatant untruth. Yeah right.

No, I am not racist. In fact I have Hispanic friends and they are legal ones. Also, in high school I wrote two Spanish plays (at Spanish camp) one was Snow White and the other one was Little Red Riding Hood. Little Red Riding Hood was a hit – she got the wolf drunk on tequila. So there. Snow White fell under the sombrero with her prince. It was muy bueno. I also won best actress and my only claim to fame.

But, it is my belief that the attack of the donkey pinatas is a bit overdone and what’s the problem if some want to “Celebrate.” Leave it alone. Those who want to do the “La Cucaracha” all night long can fiesta to their little corazón’s content. Personally, I would rather do some two-stepping. Yep, that is what I would like to see – all the D’s doing the “La Cucaracha” in their fancy colorful attire and boleros, then the two (dare I say ’toe’) - stepping R’s could join in and take the floor!

The Lake City Development Corporation is expressing concerns about their online documents or any documents being altered. I caught their last meeting on cable yesterday. Susie Snedaker of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho attended this meeting and asked for clarification in regards to her request for public records. The records she asked for were disclosed along with a statement that requested she not alter them or distribute them in an altered form. What exactly does that mean? This was a concern of hers so she approached the LCDC and they apologized and did not have issues with her personally, that she would actually alter the documents. Susie Snedaker reminded the LCDC that public records are just that - public records. Altering a public or private document to deceive is a crime as well as altering confidential records – it’s called fraud.

Maybe the LCDC is worried that phony records will surface because their documents are not secured? Securing them online would be prudent and would relieve the threat of tampering as well as give the public the transparency they are requesting. It appears that the LCDC is considering doing this, but it looks like it may be at least 3 months out.

It was mentioned in one of my posts that an URA can basically can get drunk on taxpayer’s money because there is no oversight. Mind you, I was not the one who actually said it, I quoted it.

Well, I know it’s petty, it’s ridiculous, and it’s years old but, I wonder what did the LCDC spend $182.25 of our money on at Crickets, downtown steakhouse and bar – owned by the Vice Chairman of the LCDC – Jim Elder!

We can only wonder.

Last night’s Coeur d’Alene city council meeting which was aired on Channel 19, the Mayor enlightened us that not only does she not have to apologize to citizens when she calls them a “liar” but, she will twist the story to make it sound like she is on the up and up. (We don’t believe her.) You see, we were not supposed to find out that plans are going through for a new parking structure that we don’t need. It is part of her “vision” without a doubt and her good business cohorts who will stand to profit from ‘enhancing’ the surroundings of Coeur d’Alene with art and parking structures – we don’t need right now in today’s failing economy.

Nevermind, that he is on the house committees of Business/banking/insurance issues and Transportation and Defense, he is drafting up salamander material! What a guy!

According to Wikipedia, this species is also home to the forested watersheds in the Coeur d’Alene, Idaho area. Beware, because they bite!

The Bird That Never Strays

Last week a good friend of mine and her daughter hung out at the condos in Hope, Idaho and drank a little wine. Okay, a lot of wine!  Hope, Idaho and the surrounding areas are absolutely beautiful. One thing I never noticed, however, are the birds that stay in one place except for a nod of the head. I swear I saw it move! For real, I got a close up. So, just know that somewhere on Lake Pend Oreille, Idaho there is a bird out there that is watching you! Look closely, you will find him!

It was not easy getting the closeup of this particular bird. The lake water was down, so I had to walk onto the soggy ground to get to him and I started to sink. Maybe the bird captured it on film?  I verified it and threw a rock or two and he did not move – then. Hope some eagle does not swoop down and knock this guy off his perch. No, I was not a tourist! “Oh Honey, get a pic of that bird out there!”

Senator Les Bock is leading an effort to revise much of the language in the Idaho Code so that it refers to persons with disabilities in respectful terms.  We are participating in that effort, and I expect that legislation will be introduced at the next session to address this problem.  The statute you have referred to, I.C. § 32-106, is one that I also came across and pointed out, and it will no doubt be addressed in the legislation.  Thank you for your interest in this.

Thanks to the Supreme Court of Idaho Blog, I happened to find this information.

Supreme Court Justice Eismann is asking for defects in any laws to be brought to their attention. Here is the Idaho State Bar release.  According to SCOIDBlog, “The Supreme Court has a constitutional obligation to report such to the Governor who then passes on the information to the Legislature.” 

Please send this information no later than September 18, 2009 to Patti Tobias (ptobias@idcourts.net) or Michael Henderson (mhenderson@idcourts.net). We can then submit your suggestions and proposals to the Administrative Conference for consideration at the October 22-23 meeting. Thank you for your assistance.

Well, I have a law that needs to be looked at, and I am not a  judge, but I am going to alert them anyway! So, I will be alerting Michael Henderson and Patti Tobias my law alert so our legislature has something to look at!

It is this one  and I think they need to update the terminology. Calling someone an “idiot” in Idaho might lead to a slander or libel suit.

This is a North Idaho Mouse Trap – use your canner, an empty beer can, some cardboard, and a wire clothes hanger. Put peanut butter on the beer can and fill the canner with water! This may catch the mouse or feed him the Idaho way. It’s called  -  Sink or Swim !

Last weekend our son and family came to visit. We decided to do the Hagadone boardwalk and become culturally stimulated.  We were.

We heard many conversations we did not understand and thanks to the Chinese family, we had a family photo taken and vice versa. Yes, his camera was way bigger than ours.

I kind of dreaded going downtown because I hate the parking stuff and then I had this epiphany. I am a Kootenai county customer! Guess what parking lot is empty on the weekends and just a hop, skip ,and jump away from the city beach? Yeah! I got their number!
