Then we drove back home thru downtown. I wanted to see the newer pieces of art that had replaced Ganesha, ect. It's horrible - they just need to shut down the entire area from cars and make it a foot and bicycle gallery. I seriously, cannot stand it -- with McEuen Park going in and the commercialization of Tubbs Hill, it's going to be exactly how some folks describe it -- "slugs in a garden."
The local mood of CdA is toast ... it has been replaced by a culture of artificial snobbery by people who think way too much of their "visions" ... it's ruined. The theme does not remotely resemble anything north Idaho.
Then, we drove down by the college to take a closer look at the stuff going in there and get the husband a real view of the 'poop art' at the wastewater plant. It's all way overdone and looks "gaudy." It reminds me of a second hand thrift shop where there is the one area overloaded with everyone's Christmas donations.
I wish they all would just stop ...
Then, the hubby and I actually decided to check out the second hand thrift store and I found a steamer for cheap! Yippee -- I had a nice one, but it burned up because I left it on the stove and he turned on the wrong burner. Oops.
Had to make sure it worked and it does - great for 8 bucks!
You can go fancy with this however, 3 cups of water and a 99 cent box mix works fine - deveined and shelled the shrimp, myself - all for less than 7 dollars and no need to turn on the heat. After the rice and beans steam for about 30 minutes or so, throw on the shrimp to steam until pink and done. I used garlic butter on the shrimp. No shrimp? There is always chicken or sausage. Easy!
I love cooking with a steamer. It's perfect when it's too hot to stay in the kitchen!
